We drove through some torrential rain on our way to Nazaré today.
One rather young ish couple in a Mercedes Benz and rather unaware of the dangers of speeding in these conditions found out the hard way after losing control aquaplaning and shunting the barrier head on - ouch.
First stop in town was Lidl for some groceries then onto the campsite nearby.
After settling in at the campsite, we caught the local bus down to the town to meet up with Lauren and Chloe.
It was great to catch up with them over a glass of local brew.
Oh dear, me pulling my unintentional selfie face again.
The area is very hilly, I doubt Sue will be able to do much walking here
But the sea front was flat and a refreshing breeze blew in from the sea.
By this time it was warm and sunny so the breeze was very welcome.

Traditional fishing boats |
Nazaré is famous for a number of things, one of them is sun dried fish strung up on racks on the beach.
The fish are caught by the men, but traditionally dried and sold by the women, and that tradition carries on today.
There is also a dried fish museum in case anyone hasn't smelt enough dried fish, there's plenty more there.
The Mackie side of this gathering declined the temptation to sample the local delicacy, but Chloe couldn't help but jump in with such enthusiasm and was soon negotiating with the lady for her catch, and there was no hesitation in scoffing the first little fishy, a sardine I believe, complete with it's head and eyes intact, although these weren't eaten.
So after a nice afternoon on the sea front we caught a taxi back to the campsite and Lauren and Chloe headed back to their Airbnb on the finicular up the cliff.
We're going out somewhere tomorrow so lots more photos hopefully.
