Rain in Bad Tölz

Well the UK might be moving close to a hosepipe ban but not here in Bavaria.

After a pleasant day of sunshine and cloud with that cool wind I mentioned, it tipped it down last night.
We had planned to go to Linerhof Palace today which is one of the (Mad) King Ludwig II completely over the top Palaces.
But checking the weather forecast made grim reading, rain every day here until next Sunday for this area of Bavaria.
The better weather seemed firmly in the west of the region so we had a dilemma. Do we miss out on seeing Linderhof Palace, Mittenwald, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Neuschwanstein Castle and the other sites in the area ?

Much disappointment was involved, but In the end we decided we didn`t much fancy dodging rain showers for the next few days so we headed west to Lake Constance or The Bodensee as the Germans like to call the Lake, and the better weather promised by the weather apps. Three countries border the lake, Austria, Germany and Switzerland.
Not much research was done, but I`d heard it was a very nice region and we have indeed found the sunshine again.

However we have ended up on a Stellplatz that is not really to our liking though.
It`s at the entrance to a mega campsite of 1000+ pitches. Called Ferienpark Gohren am See (GPS 47.58813 9.56259)
There `s nothing wrong with it, just not our thing these big sites although the shower block is very plush.
We walked for about a kilometre through the campsite to reach the lake and it is indeed very nice, but not quite what I`d expected. I thought there would be a promenade to walk but no, just a shingle beach with a few sunbathers.
So where is everybody, such a large campsite, there must be loads of people here somewhere ?
We`d seen a Marina on the way in so maybe that`s where they are.
We walked to the Marina but nobody there either, loads and loads of yacht`s tied up with rigging clinking away in the breeze, but almost deserted.
There doesn`t really seem to be anywhere else to go to from here unless we`ve just not found it yet.
We weren`t looking for people, just curious where they all were.
I`ll let you know if we find out.
Much research to do tonight to find somewhere more to our liking on the lake and to plot a scenic route north that will keep us entertained.
We should be able to pick up some of the Romantic Route which was originally a Roman trading route between Italy and Germany but after WW2 was promoted as a tourist route to help with rebuilding the country.

Not many photos as the internet is slow here
