Porth Iago

Tuesday 23nd June 2026

So I'm back at Porth Iago, one of my most favourite places to be, it's just such a stunning setting, and in this glorious weather there's nowhere else in the world I'd rather be.

They've even got a new bench for 2026 to admire the views

I bagged a front row pitch which was a suprise, I thought they'd all be taken but I got lucky. The pitch needed levelling ramps and was still a bit on the wonk but who cares with views like this.

There are one or two familiar faces here to that I've met and chatted to on previous visits here so it was nice to see them again.

Chris the farmer who runs the place even recognised and remembered me by name, so that was rather nice. Feels like coming home, lol.

I didn't do very much apart from walking some of the coastal path, enjoying the scenery, paddling on the beach and taking in the scenery and beautiful warm and sunny weather.

So after two great nights here at Porth Iago, I headed home but will definately be back again in the future

Wales in a heatwave

Saturday 20th, Sunday 21st and Monday 22nd June 2026

This campsite I found has now become one of my favourites, it's called Morfa Mawr which translates to Bog Big.

There's no bog, let alone a big one, just a big field with fantastic views over the bay to Aberdaron.

It's about a mile walk along the lane to Aberdaron, or a bit closer walking along the beach.
But that involves negotiating the rather steep path down from the campsite to the beach.

It's been a very relaxing stay, which I extended to a third night as I enjoyed it here so much.

I haven't done a lot, just walked along the beach, a stretch of the Llyn coastal path, flew the drone and generally watched the world go by from my sea front pitch.

Tomorrow I think I'll move on to Porth Iago and probably spend two nights there with a supermarket stop along the way for some milk.

Porth Iago is another of my favourite places in this area.

The temperatures are very comfortable around mid 20's with a cooling sea breeze.

I'm glad I'm not in the South East or across the channel in France in the heatwave temperatures they're having over there.
