Our park up at Thursley Common nature reserve was ideal, quite, peaceful with just the wildlife for company.
We set off after a late breakfast and headed a step further towards Newhaven.
Our destination was another National Trust site at Sheffield Park and gardens near Ukfield.
The house is privately owned but there are extensive grounds to wander.
It more of an arboretum really with lots of specimen trees, some of which much be a huge age judging by the size of the trunks.
It's a substantial distance to walk all the grounds so we limited ourselves to a short walk around the lakes and lunch afterwards in Ed.
Next it was a drive across West Sussex and through pretty villages where time seems to have stood still for a couple of centuries.
Half timbered cottages, roses around the doors and duck ponds on the village green.
Our parkup for tonight is Jack and Jill Windmills which have superb views over the South Downs.
The 19th Centuary windmills have been restored in recent years by volunteers and ocassionally the paddles turn and the mill grinds some flour, not today though.
