This morning we decided to head east back into the Brittany inland countryside.
The weather forecast for today was rather unsettled with showers later. If the weather had been as it was yesterday, warm and sunny, I had my eye on a boat trip from the harbour here in Morgat to some sea caves.
But with rain expected late afternoon, the very time of the boat trip, it suddenly became less appealing, so we decided to up sticks.
But not before I'd got my bike out for a cycle ride down to the southern most point on the peninsula.
Semaphore du Cap de la Chevre.
I think the semaphore refers to what looks like a French Navy look out post on the headland.
There a Naval war memorial here and a large carpark where it looks like quite a few motorhomes overnight.
Not strictly allowed in a national park, but the French seem to largely ignore such restrictions when it suits them.

The sunken Naval Memorial, looks a bit odd from this angle and I wonder if the sunken aspect is a bad metaphor for an organisation with ships ? |

The views aren't anything like as spectacular as yesterday's Pointe de Chateau, partly because not all the site can be accessed due to the military, but it was worthwhile ride through the beautiful Brittany countryside.
Nearby is a listed village called Rostudel, which is very quaint and charm in a beautiful natural environment. They're old single story former fishermen's cottages made of stone and slate, with narrow streets and offer a glimpse back in time.
I've really enjoyed this part of Brittany and definately hope to return.
After lunch we set the sat nav for a route east along the D164 to the village of Gouarec.
It's quite a pretty village on the Canal linking Nantes with Brest with some interesting stone buildings dated as early as 1730.
The French don't seem to use the canals for leisure in the way Brits do. There are cruiser boats kayaks for sure but not so many and not the narrow boaters we're used to seeing.

I went for a cycle along the canal after tea, parts of the canal looked barely navigable with the overhanging and fallen trees ! |

In a little village called Plouguernevel the local church had these external bells to ring which I thought were interesting |
We're only 70 miles east but it's much warmer here and no signs of rain.
