Remich

Sunday 1st September 2024

There were some great views of Vianden castle bathed in the morning sun today.

The sun in the right place makes such a difference

After getting ourselves sorted out, we headed for Mullerthal, where there are some spectacular walking trails and sights with gorges, caves, ravines, waterfalls and rock formations.

I got to see some but others needed a bigger commitment in terms of time and stamina.
But it was definitely worthwhile making the effort to do the walk we did.

Some of the trails were 30 km, which I don't think Louis was up for even if I felt inclined, which I didn't 🤣

After that we headed for Remich, a small town on the east of Luxembourg with the border to Germany running down the Moselle which we overlook this evening.
We're on the camper stop overlooking the Moselle.

I must say I'm quite impressed with Luxembourg, is extremely clean, well ordered and everything as it should be.
The roads are exceptional, not a pothole in sight and mostly silky smooth to drive on. No tolls or queues either.

Although there are some road closures which got the sat nav confused yesterday, taking us round in a circles in one town.

I'm not sure for the reason of the closures, but they seem well signposted and diversions in place.

As beautiful as Luxembourg is, it somehow falls a little short of the stunning scenery in Switzerland, but having said that it's still a place worthy of a visit.

So I'm looking forward to some cheap diesel in the morning before we head off, probably back into France, for the next leg of our journey.
