Into Switzerland

Wednesday 4th September 2024

We left our park up in Ribeauville this morning after some quite heavy overnight rain.

But the morning was bright, dry and considerably fresher.

We left Alsace region of France and headed south towards Mulhouse on the non toll road, into Switzerland, around the industrial area surrounding Basel and towards the more attractive Swiss mountain scenery the country is rightly famous for.

We come to one of the smaller Swiss lakes, Zugersee and the small lakeside town of Cham.

We're on a carpark adjoining the local sailing club who allow motorhomes to park overnight for the princely sum of 5 CHF or about 4.49 GBP.
And that's a bargain for Switzerland !

We're joined here by two other motorhomes, a German couple and a couple from Southampton, James and Barbara who've only had their motorhome a few weeks.

Tonights parkup with our English neighbour

The view isn't amazing, there's a beach volleyball court in front of us and a skate park to the rear, but a short walk to the lake and there is a beautiful park area with typical Swiss cleanliness and tidiness.

There's a bicycle repair station with compressed air and a full range of repair tools, spanners and a mount to lift your bike up onto to repair.

Everything is so beautifully taken care of for residents and visitors.

The weather continues to be unsettled with more rain forecast for this evening and several days ahead, so we'll just take it day by day and try to avoid rain, and more especially thunderstorms ⛈️ ⛈️ ⛈️

Louis continues to gets really distressed by them and he drives us mad with the barking, so we do our best to avoid them.
Time will tell how successful we are, lol.

The drive to someone's lakeside mansion

This is a pile of rubbish that has been dredged from the lake and an appreciative swan and a duck in conversation thanking the workmen !

The lakeside has a SUP and kayak inflation hub !

The bridge onto the little island

The bicycle repair station with compressed air and a full range of repair tools on wires so they can't be stolen, spanners and a mount to lift your bike up onto to repair.

The park even has stainless steel boxes mounted on the
benches containing a childrens library

Well the rain didn't arrive at tea time as the app said it might so I'll see what overnight brings.
