We went to bed and the weather was glorious, but in the night a very strong wind blew up and rocked the van from on and off throughout the night.
No rain, but plenty of windy gusts off the Alps I presume.
Our drive from Gavirate to Lake Iseo was not terribly inspiring.
Much of north Italy is like that, mile after mile of bland town suburbia and commercial areas.
I'd also selected a non-toll route on the sat nav, to try and balance the budget and make up for the extravagance of the unexpected tunnel toll the other day.
The budget re-formulation plan is coming together nicely though, I found some red wine in the supermarket at 1.69 euro and it's very drinkable.
At this rate we'll even be able to get home 🙂
So it was one roundabout after another for mile after mile.
On the plus side the roads weren't that busy and at least we weren't sitting at red traffic lights. Just my arms were feeling it a bit after all those gear changes and cornering, lol.
We arrived at Camping del Sol on Lago d' Iseo.
It's quite a large site, but we'll organized and they kindly give us a pitch close to the lake, so we have fantastic views from our pitch of the mountains.
The lake water level is very low, clearly the drout us having a big effect on this area.
I thought the lake at Gavirate was about three feet below where it should be, but Iseo seems considerably lower.
It's also a lot cooler here this evening, we've seen no rain, but I think they had a heavy rain shower before we arrived at lunchtime.
Tomorrow we plan to explore the area.
Some views of Lake Iseo from our pitch
Some Polish lads went for a swim this evening, they had to walk out a long way before it was deep enough to swim !
