The Sosta we were parked up on last night at Tavernola
was not the most peaceful we have been on by some way. First we had a firework
display we could hear but not see, then we had a dog barking somewhere, I think
in some houses or flats behind the Sosta, then at 0615 this morning someone
decides to start cutting the grass on the sports field opposite. Apart from
that it was a great night. To be fair the fireworks only lasted 15 minutes and
the dog about 20.
We awoke to a bright sunny day despite the forecast
warning of thunderstorms.
After breakfast we drove down to the little free
parking area in Cernobbio we found yesterday, we got lost on the way, I`d swear
the road layouts had been altered overnight !
The walk down to the water taxi to took longer than
anticipated due to a market being on with many shoe stalls, each one had to be
inspected carefully. I also managed to get a better photograph of Villa
Bernasconi without the delivery vans outside.
The water taxi was very enjoyable, we got a look at
Villa Erba from the lake as well as some other Villa`s
Como Old town is a beautiful place with lots of
interesting sights, a magnificent Duomo of course, city walls, and many
expensive shops, nice bars and cafes.
We had a lovely day and a nice boat ride in the
sunshine.
Later we drove to Lake Iseo and are tonight on a
lovely site called Camping Corvelo (GPS 45.66668 10.06702) and splashed out 22
euro for a pitch right on the lake, so we watched the sun setting over the
mountains on the far side of the lake.
We also had a spruce up, vac`d Ed out, did a wash,
washed Louis and I had the best shower I`ve had since being away in the shower block next to us.
So, all in all, a good day, it stayed sunny all day
but has clouded over this evening and I gather the weather at home is
excellent, so you might be doing better than us, grrrrr.
Thunderstorms forecast again tomorrow, but they were
for today and got it wrong so lets hope they are wrong again :o)
Tomorrow I think we will head for Perschiera del Garda on Lake Garda, if we like it we`ll stay a few days I think.
