Wednesday 15th September
The sun was shining earlier this morning but it soon clouded over and has been much cooler today with a threat of showers which didn't arrive.

We had another walk around the lovely lake at Lalleyriat before setting off on a short drive to Terre Valserine.
It's a scenic gorge where the river La Valserine has carved the stone into amazing features such as kettles which are where the swirling river water spins pebbles around a depression in the rock and eventually forms a circular bowl.
It's a bit of a trek down from the carpark but well worth the effort.
I'm sure it'd be more impressive after heavy rainfall but it was still a great sight to see and enjoy the nature surrounding the gorge.

| The 'kettles' formed by the water swirling pebbles around in a depression, they actually make great doggie water drinking bowls lol |
After some lunch it was another short drive to an Aire next to another lake at La Balme de Sillingy, the lake being Lac de la Balme.

What's interesting is there is are wonderful facilities for children here with all sorts of play parks, rides, climbing frames etc, all so clean and well maintained, the children really are well catered for in this town.
There's also what they call a Pump Track, which is a cycle track of gentle humps to ride around a circuit, fantastic for the children, they really are well catered for here.

| The Pump Track looks fantastic fun, I was nearly tempeted to elbow the kids out of the way and have a go myself lol |
There's also a lovely garden next to the lake which I think is done to represent all of the departments in the region of Auvergne-Rhone-Alps.
It's been assembled with lots of ornaments of interest to attract children to the gardens.
We had a lovely walk around the lake and will have a wander into the village after tea if it stays dry.
