We left our parkup in Monclus with a little light rain falling, but it didn't amount to much and soon cleared up, a cooler day followed with high cloud and the odd glimpses of the sun.
I set off to the town know as the gateway to l'Ardeche, Saint Martins, only about half an hour away.
It's location at the southern end of the Gourge de l'Ardeche scenic route making it a popular destination for adventurous types looking for an adrenaline fix of one sort or another.
I think a lot of UK schools organise trips to this area so it's probably heaving with teenagers in summer.
We're not planning anything too adventurous, but it's a nice town to visit.
We encountered another narrow bridge over the river Ardeche to get here though.
2.7 metres, and I'm 2.65 metres wide with the mirrors, rather too close for comfort.
I wasn't going to risk it, and fortunately it was only a short detour to find another bridge.
The town is a sleepy place at this time of year, and speaking to an English couple who have a holiday home here, they were telling me a lot of shops and restaurants only have a six month lease from April to September which explains a lot.

This afternoon, Louis and I walked across the narrow bridge and up the lane to a village on the other bank of the river Ardeche, called Aigueze.
As it turns out it's also in the BVoF book, and it is very pretty clinging to the clifftop above the Ardeche.
Tomorrow we're going to drive the Gorge de l'Ardeche but the weather forecast isn't great, predicting some rain, so I'm hoping it isn't too heavy.
And some views of Aigueze
