Lake Garda – day three

Friday 28th June

We've loved our time spent in Torbole on lake Garda, it really is a beautiful place.

I also think I prefer the north of the lake where we are, to the very commercialised south we visited last year.

There's a very relaxed atmosphere here with lots of surfer dude types, lots of very expensive looking mountain bikes and more windsurfers that you can shake a stick at !
Doing a bit of research, there are lots of walking and biking routes in the hills surrounding Torbole, but it's been much too hot to make that effort I'm afraid.
Our visit has been about r and r.
There is a water taxi goes from Torbole to Riva del Garda and other towns down the lake. We thought we might like to take a trip on that but it`s just felt like too much effort, so we`ve not budged from the beach !

It's been hot, at 2.30 pm, my phone is telling me it's 38c which is apparently cooler than yesterday !
But it doesn't feel that hot.
When we were in Belluno it was 32c and that felt hotter.
So it must be the fresher mountain air making it more comfortable.
Today there has been a really strong wind blowing and the windsurfers have been making the most of it.
And we have enjoyed it too.
Us kayakers have been getting blown along as well, usually in the wrong direction though !

I found out a little information about the cute little house on the harbour, it`s called Casa del Dazio, it dates form the Austrian / Hungarian Hasburg Empire and was originally a Customs House.
It seems it does open to tourists at times but always closed when we`ve been around.
It`s been restored and is kept with flowers in the window boxes throughout the year.

Sadly, I think this will be our last night in Torbole, tomorrow we'll move on, a little further west and a little further north.

In other words, a bit nearer home :((

No photos today, internet to sooo slow !

Campsite shops are a bit of a mystery, usually expensive, I was shocked yesterday to be charged 0.60 cent euro for two fresh bread rolls for lunch.
Upon exploring the alcohol department, I found these beauties, Italian Birra Dana, 66cl 4.7 vol at 1.35 euro per bottle. Bargain !
They taste good too, so I went back for a supply.
Who says Italy is expensive ? Well I have but it goes to show there are bargains to be had !
