Thursday 8th October
We had quite a lot of rain overnight so we woke to grey dull skies and the sound of rain on the roof.
It was still drizzling a bit when we set off for the Roman amphitheatre in the nearby village of Drevant.
It's quite a pleasant little village with a church dating from the 12th century which has an interesting stone staircase up the outside and some other historical buildings attached to what was an Abbey and a Priory.
Of course all the information signs were in French but Google translate helped me a bit.

| I wonder what could be kept up there ? |
There a canal running through the village called the Canal de Berry but it's rather lacking in any water at the moment, a result of the dry summer I expect.
Next it was onto tonights parkup, a paid motorhome aire in Villefranche sur Cher.
It's in a lovely setting between the river the Canal de Berry which we saw earlier at Drevant.
The canal here has plenty of water in and rather a lot of lillies and weeds as well.
Building of the canal was completed in 1839 and it was used for transport up until 1955 when it closed.
There's also a great cycle track running the length of the canal.
The town doesn't seem to have much of interest but we only had a quick look around.
It's been a warm and sunny afternoon but I can definitely feel the change in the climate as we travel north, it's no longer sandles weather and shorts and tee shirt use is more reserved for the warmer afternoons.
Mornings and evenings definately need more layers lol
