Fairbourne on the Mawddach Estuary

Saturday 9th August 2025

It was very quiet and peaceful last night in Corwen but I decided to get up early and depart and head over to the coast at Fairbourne.

I wasn't sure about this, fearing it might be extremely busy.

But I needn't have worried, it's no busier than on previous occasions when I've been here so I need not have got up early to get here.
Ah well, never mind I'll have a lie in tomorrow !

On the way I fell victim to a hidden Welsh telegraph pole in the hedge

Not the first time and probably won't be the last

It's a great free parkup on the opposite side of the Mawddach Estuary to Barmouth with spectacular views down the Estuary.

Very choppy seas today, definately not kayaking weather

Some Welsh residents came over to say hello

There's still the little passenger ferry goes over the Estuary to Barmouth which I did one year but I doubt I'll go there this time.

The steam trains does a loop from Fairbourne to Estuary Halt and back

There's a few other motorhomes and various dog walkers, fisherman and boaters coming and going and it's quite entertaining watching the world go by here with the Snowdonia mountains as a backdrop.

So I spent most of the day here without actually doing much, or anything actually.

I watched the tide coming in and out, watched the sea birds and walked along the beach with Louis.
