Dolcoch Waterfalls

Sunday 11th August 2025

It was a lovely peaceful day yesterday at Fairbourne watching the tides and the comings and goings and I don't mind admitting we did very little except resting.

It was a windy day though with a stiff breeze off the Irish Sea, but today was totally different, no wind and clear blue skies.

After a lazy breakfast, we left Fairbourne and headed south down the coast road to Rhaedr Falls at Dolcoch.

It's a beautiful undisturbed ancient gorge with many rare species of flora and fauna.

Strangeley, Dolcoch Waterfalls are also called Rhaeadr Falls ?
I think
Rhaeadr is the river and Dolcoch the village

The concentration of a selfie, lol

I don't think the gorge usually this much sunshine

The moss covered banks of the gorge were cooling on a warm day and the babbling river Afon Fathew meandered down the gorge.

The sunlight shining through the tree canopy onto the ground made for beautiful scenic experience about was well worth calling here for a few hours.

Next it was onto Aberystwyth.

I'd identified a good parkup at the local golf club for 10 per night, and it is a great place.

It looks to be a disused part of the course as you can see the leveled putting tees, but it's a lovely setting so we enjoyed a long walk across the golf course this afternoon after most of the golfers had gone home.

I had Intended to walk into town this afternoon but I'm afraid laziness took over, together with the scenic surroundings so we just chilled out in the afternoon sun instead.
