Bad Hönningen

Today we drove for most of the morning to a small Spa Town on the River Rhine called Bad Hönningen.

I decided to put some miles in and we did about 120 miles, mostly along the Autobhan which was an interesting experience. For weeks we`ve only used quite side roads mostly and then to suddenly have Audi`s and Mercedes flying past with wheels barely touching the black stuff. Some must have been doing 100+mph. It was a bit of a shock at first.

Passsing Frankfurt was also interesting, the Autobhan takes you through the airport, literally ! I thought we were going to go into the departure hall we were that close.

We stopped on the Autobhan for a cuppa and ended up in a section of the carpark the local police had coned off for doing spot weighs on motorhomes. I`d not been directed in there, just drove in by mistake. Anyway after we`d had a cuppa, with some strange looks from the police, I went over and asked if they wanted to weigh us. The policeman looked a bit confused and said he would if we wished, but had no need so up to us. Being certain we weren`t overweight, I opted to let him weigh us. We also had a full fresh water tank so could lighten up by dumping 100 litres of water if necessary.

The weighing was done and all ok after he checked passports, driving licence and registration documents. He even checked Louis pet passport !

We are parked up overlooking the River Rhine at a site called Wellness Rhinepark (GPS 50.51072 7.30791) It has a Spa complex attached but it was selected because they have a laundry, and we needed a laundry.

So that was this afternoon`s task.

After yesterdays scorching temperatures it was cooler this morning and we had some rain showers this afternoon but it`s quite sunny again this evening.

Last night the castle at Wertheim am Main was illuminated as I`d hoped

And I`ve added some photos to yesterday`s post.

We have a satellite signal tonight, but could have done with it last night really for the football.

Tomorrow we`ll head closer to Cologne, it`s about 40 miles I think.
