Wales in winter

 Sunday 10th November 2024

I set off today for a few days in Wales.

After what seems like weeks of dull grey skies and intermittent drizzle, the prospect of a little bit of brightness, blue skies and sun was too good to miss.

First stop was Bala town for some lunch and a circular River walk along the Dee and back through the town.

There were glimpses of blue skies, but not for long, drizzle followed on my drive further west to my overnight stop in Fairbourne.

I've been here before several times and it's a great place to spend the night, one of my favourite places in Wales.

Overlooking the beautiful Mawddach Estuary, with the mountains of Snowdonia as a backdrop and the seaside town of Barmouth across the river.

Previous visits have always been in summer with warm sunny days spent lying on the grass bank in front of Ed, enjoying the views, kayaking up the estuary, walking along the beach, people watching, fishermen messing around in boats, and so it was quite a contrast today.

There were one or two people here when I arrived and some dog walkers later, but tonight I have the place to myself.
